Weekly Recap: Pre Season Kicks Off

With the past seven days behind us, we take a look back at action from both on and off the ice.
Fransén
Färjestad have locked up one of their young prospects to a rookie contract this week. 18 year old Noel Fransén appeared in four games with the main team last season, scoring a single goal. However he was dominant from the blue line for the J20 team last season. in 45 games played he led all defensemen in J20 in points and goals. He scored 20 goals and added 24 assists, falling just shy of a point per game average.
- Noel had a great year last year where we agreed that we wanted to see more and he wanted to stay, and the next step is to somehow get ready for senior hockey, says Färjestad's sports director Rickard Wallin to the club's website.
Originally from Karlstad, the young defender has spent his entire junior career with the organisation and is looking forward to playing full time for his home town team in Swedens biggest league.
- This has always been the dream, a dream to play for a place in the first team. That is the goal of this season, to play for me a place in the team, says Fransén.
Fransén was also and NHL draft pick at this summers NHL entry draft. He was selected in the third round, 69th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Pre Season
The kick off of the pre season is a time all hockey fans look forward to. Not only can they finally get a look at their teams roster on the ice for the coming season but it, of course, also signals that the regular season is not far off. With just over 6 weeks to go before puck drop on the 2024/25 season, the pre season kicked off this week with a pair of games.
Linköping visited Oskarshamn where they were able to come away with the win in the shootout and the Växjö Lakers faced off and won against HockeyAllsvenskan squad the Nybro Vikings. A full schedule of pre season games is set to kick off this weekend.
